Hotel Narayana

The staff's response to a basic water problem was rude and dismissive. When I called reception after checking in and finding no water in the washroom, they told me to open the tap, as though I hadn't tried. Nobody apologized, checked what was wrong, or offered a proper fix. After a long journey, that was the last thing I needed. The rooms were only okay and didn't feel worth the price. The bathrooms were somewhat dirty, and hygiene didn't seem to matter much. I left feeling I was paying to be treated badly, with little hospitality or customer care. During my time in Nepal, I noticed this kind of behavior in many hotels, where basic service and respectful communication seemed to be missing whatever the price. It's frustrating when you expect even a minimum standard. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, or any place that treats guests like a burden instead of customers.

Our family trip to Kathmandu was meant to be quality time, not a negotiation over a discount. Instead, our stay at Hotel Narayana, Gaushala, Kathmandu was deeply disappointing and distressing. Both rooms, 103 and 106, had bedbugs, and my whole family, including the children, suffered severe bites. I reported it at 1:03 AM, but the staff were initially unhelpful. After repeated requests, the receptionist confirmed the infestation and moved us to another room, which was unhygienic too. We were moved once more to a third room. At checkout, staff offered just NPR 300 off rather than a proper apology. I also tried calling the owner, Mr. Anil Agrawal, but got no answer. I have video evidence of the bedbugs and will share it publicly. I expect an appropriate response and corrective action. Thank you.

The food here is the best you'll find at any hotel.

Hotel Narayana is easy to spot in Kathmandu, right opposite the famous Sri Pashupathi Nath temple and near Ring Road. It's very crowded, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, and there's no parking apart from on the road. Before heading to the temples, check the location on Google Maps and arrange a taxi. Pashupathi Nath Tempke is just across from the hotel, and other good temples are nearby. There are lots of shops inside the premises selling things like pearls, rings, and tickets. The Jenkins and swetter shops there are good, and prices are very reasonable. Plenty of chat item shops are close by, and nearby good hotels are available too. Coffee and tea are reasonably priced. Room service is good, and the rooms are very near n clean. The common bathroom, though, is very smelly and not in usable condition.
