Hotel Yak & Yeti

We were very happy with the food and service at Yak & Yeti. After finishing our EBC trek, we stayed here and found the hotel really comfortable. Room service meals were delicious, and the laundry service worked without any complaints. There’s a backyard you can walk around after breakfast, which felt very therapeutic. I’d recommend staying here.

Dining was a highlight, especially at the Spice Room, where the Indian food was delicious and the setting elegant. The staff were professional, warm, and always willing to help. Hotel Yak & Yeti sits in a heritage palace with well kept gardens, so it feels calm even though it’s in the city center. Durbar Marg is a convenient base for attractions, shops, and good restaurants. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, with traditional character alongside modern amenities. Housekeeping and the rest of the upkeep were excellent. It’s a lovely mix of history, comfort, and service in Kathmandu.

A note for anyone booking a Heritage Room: it doesn’t have a bathtub, although Agoda and other booking sites may show one. We had a wonderful stay. The rooms were amazing, the grounds and lawns beautifully kept, and the breakfast buffet had lots of choice and impressive live counters. The spa and sauna were top-notch, with separate areas for men and women, and the masseuses clearly had plenty of experience. The Chimney was an absolute must-visit for us, 5/5, while the Spice Room was very good, 4/5. The staff were incredibly helpful and made everything seamless.

The restaurant team made every meal a pleasure. Anisha, Rajendra, Jhapad, Naresh, and Sonika were consistently friendly and attentive, and the food, service, and atmosphere were among the best I’ve experienced around the world. I think they serve the best biryani. We spent a week at Hotel Yak & Yeti, staying in the quieter Durbar Wing, which was a peaceful, comfortable retreat close to the heart of Kathmandu. The reception team were just as good. Managers Sujita and Dristee, along with Kritika at reception, were warm, professional, and helpful throughout our stay, keeping things smooth. Sameer at the Travel Desk also made planning our activities easy. The team’s genuine hospitality made the stay special, and I’d happily return or recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Kathmandu.
