Mercure Kathmandu Sukedhara Heights

The reception team, especially Alon and Shreesha, made my eight days at Mercure Kathmandu Sukedhara Heights stand out. They greeted me warmly, handled requests promptly and thoughtfully, and went out of their way to make me comfortable. My room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the hotel had a calm, welcoming feel, good for relaxing after a busy day. Service was warm and professional from arrival onward. The team clearly cares about guests. It felt like a home away from home, and I’d gladly stay again and recommend it.

The food was consistently good, with a nice range of choices, and the comfortable ambience was well maintained. Friendly staff made me feel welcome from arrival, with attentive, courteous service throughout. GM Abhishek and Shiwani Singh deserve a special mention for making sure I had a very comfortable stay. Mercure Hotel Kathmandu is a pleasant, dependable option for business or leisure.

We spent seven nights here and were very happy with our stay. We liked being outside the busy, congested, noisy city centre around Thamel, though the hotel is still within reach of the main sights. In normal traffic, Patan Durbar Square takes about 20-25 minutes, Kathmandu Durbar Square 15-20, Bakhtapur 30-35, and Boudha Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple 10-15. The airport is around a 10-minute drive. Busy periods can make those trips longer, so plan accordingly. There are good restaurants nearby, and we’d suggest using a taxi or car, especially with family, since the roads can be busy. Taxis seemed very affordable to us coming from London, but prices depend on where you’re going, so check for your own situation. Our Privilege Room was nice and cosy, and the rooftop pool and bar were fantastic, with lovely views across the city and surrounding mountains. The spa and gym were excellent too. We didn’t book breakfast or eat at the hotel restaurant, so can’t comment on those. We loved our stay, and would advise planning your transport in advance because the hotel isn’t in the city centre.

The rooms were excellent, and the service was impeccable. Binita Shrestha was wonderful in the restaurant, friendly and attentive to even the little details I appreciate. Sandesh and Utsav deserve a shout-out too, though every staff member was incredible. Highly, highly recommended.
