Hotel Karuna

I always look forward to coming back to Hotel Karuna. I've stayed here several times over the past few years, and the rooms have been bright, clean, safe, and well cared for each time. The staff are friendly, professional, and helpful without being stiff. Breakfast is delicious with plenty of choices; in the off season there may not be a buffet, but you can order what you like from the menu. I also enjoyed the pay-what-you-will "appy hour" with hygienic street food, where the proceeds go to local charities. The chatpate was fabulous. There are lovely spots to relax in the lobby and sitting area, plus an outdoor patio, garden, and fish pond that's nice for kids and adults. The rooftop terrace is great when you want a view.

A quiet location just near the centre of Lakeside makes this a great place to stay. The rooms are spacious, beautiful, and clean, and the lobby and restaurant are comfortable places to work or catch up with friends. In my experience, the hospitality is outstanding: the team is friendly, accommodating, and goes out of its way to help. The roof has a beautiful view. I also loved the breakfast buffet and the regular pani puri bar, where you make the classic Asian street food yourself and choose how spicy to make it. They try to be environmentally friendly, arrange trips and tours, and support local businesses. Highly recommend for a comfortable, happy stay.

We kept extending our visit and stayed for 14 days because leaving was hard. The rooms are spacious and super clean, the showers get properly hot, and there are refillable water stations in the hallways. There are sustainable touches throughout. Breakfast was a highlight, with hot and cold choices like fresh fruit and vegetables, locally made peanut butter, hummus, and hot local dishes. Coffee and tea were just right each morning. One evening there was a surprise pani puri buffet, prepared hygienically and absolutely delicious. More than anything, the kindness of everyone working here made the stay special. It's well located, good for couples, and very vegan friendly. We'll be back.

The staff made this our best accommodation in Nepal. Everyone was friendly and professional, and the receptionist made us feel at ease when we arrived, helped us book tickets, and shared great recommendations. The hotel is central but quiet, with beautifully finished, immaculately clean rooms. We were on the top floor and had a great view of the annapurna range. Breakfast was a delicious buffet, and there's a good little shop and restaurant right across the road. Highly recommended, a must stay.
