Mingtang Garden Cottage 名堂花园度假屋

The garden felt like a peaceful little escape, even though all the interesting sights are within walking distance. Breakfast was delicious, too. The owner, who is Chinese, was so kind and helpful. She gave us useful tips, then even rode her scooter with us to the Tibetan refugee center and monastery so we could find our way. She also found us a lama who showed us around for hours. The rooms were lovely and clean. We’d happily stay again. 😊

Being right by the lake and boat station made getting around easy, and there were plenty of good restaurants nearby for lunch and dinner. A taxi to Sarangkot for sunrise was simple to arrange. At Mingtang, Maya and her husband made me feel comfortable from the moment I arrived, with a warm welcome and helpful local tips. My room was spotlessly clean and cosy, and breakfast each morning was delicious and comforting. Thank you, Maya. You made Pokhara my favorite place.

We were so comfortable here that we added six extra nights. Maya was caring and kind, and also a genuinely lovely person and an amazing manager on site. It felt like a home away from home, and it’s one of my favorite places I’ve stayed anywhere 🥰

After our four-day hike, our bags were already in the room, tea was waiting in the garden, and the staff took care of our laundry. They’d also helped us get in touch with a great guide before we set out. We stayed at this lovely guest house both before and after our hikes, and the owner and staff were warmer and friendlier than anywhere else we’ve experienced. The one drawback was the curtain instead of a door between the room and bathroom. Even so, I’d choose this place again for its calm, generous welcome.
