The Hotel Britomart

I really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Britomart. My brother and I had separate rooms for two nights, and both the comfy beds and the subtle, beautiful lighting stood out. The understated elegance flowed from the bedrooms and closets through the coffee and fridge area to the open shower. I have the same kind of open shower with a glass wall at home. Thanks, Rakeesh, for your personable yet professional service, and hi to Howard. Great valet service too. The restaurant waiting staff made it easy to settle in for dinner. In fact, everyone greeted me whenever we crossed paths, in the hall, by the lift, or on the way to the restaurant or entrance. Kudos to Hotel Britomart for such friendly, hospitable staff.

Our room was on the small side, but very comfortable and high-tech, with lights, blinds, air con, and everything else controlled from a display on the wall. It was our first time at this lovely hotel, and we loved the location. The bar and restaurant on the ground floor were pretty good too. We booked a room-only rate, but there are really good breakfast places everywhere. We’ll definitely come back next time we’re in Auckland!

Harold made our stay special, going above and beyond from welcome to checkout to make sure we had what we needed and would enjoy Auckland. The hotel was a wonderful experience and a lovely way to end our two-week honeymoon around NZ. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable, and the staff really made it memorable. Highly recommend!

The staff were the highlight for us. Everyone was friendly and clearly wanted to help, and the location made it easy to walk to most places. The rooms were another story. We booked king rooms, but they felt smaller than any of the 11 places we stayed on this trip. The setup seems better suited to one person: there was just one seat and nowhere for luggage, even though a folded luggage stand was tucked in the closet. The hotel is going for a sleek, minimalist, digital feel. When we arrived, someone greeted us warmly and showed us to the rooms, but explained how everything worked so quickly that it was hard to follow. The light switches blend into the wall, so in the dark we had to feel around to find them. We only found the library lounge the night before leaving. When we asked about dinner, we were told we needed a reservation, but half the restaurant was empty when we got back from eating elsewhere. The atmosphere was nice, though the pounding music at the bar was so loud I could barely talk to my husband beside me. Two nights was enough. I was glad we’d spent more time earlier in the trip at Hotel Debrett down the street.
