M&Y Guest House (Christchurch Airport)

Yan and Miki know what travellers need, and it shows. The place was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom had a proper shower. It's about 2 km from the airport while still close to the city. One of the best places we stayed on our trip, and we'd recommend it to anyone visiting Christchurch.

After a month in a campervan, we needed somewhere peaceful to rest, and Miki and Yan's place was just right. We booked a suite, with a clean bathroom, a good strong shower with hot water, and air conditioning that worked perfectly. The kitchen had everything we needed for breakfast. We also liked the shoes-off rule at the entrance since we do the same at home, and the whole place was very clean. What stood out most was Miki and Yan's kindness. When our flight plans went wrong, they did what they could to help and even let us stay an extra night. The airport is close enough that we walked there instead of getting a cab.

The door code made checking in on my own easy, and I liked the system. It’s a new house, sparkling clean, with a soft, comfortable bed. Coffee, milo and cereal were there for breakfast too. You can walk to Christchurch airport, or catch the nearby 29 or Purple bus if you'd rather ride into the airport or city centre.

The hosts were welcoming and took the time to show me where everything was, making sure I felt comfortable. I’d stay here again without hesitation, and the five stars are well earned. My room and bed were very comfortable, even though I was only there for a few hours between a late arrival and an early flight. There was some confusion on the night because my reply to the guest house email never came through, although Gmail showed it had been accepted. The hosts sorted it out with very little fuss, which they deserve credit for. The airport transfer cost $15 each way, a little expensive for the distance.
