Buffalo Lodge

We spent almost a week in the studio suite, a lovely, spacious nest with the kitchen and living area separate from the bedroom and bathroom. The interior is gorgeous, and the reclaimed wood floor gives it a light, elegant feel. From the bathroom's very private corner window, you're immersed in the bush from a bird's-eye view. The kitchen and bedroom views are spectacular too. Owners Abby and Eli and their friendly staff make the stay warm and personal, and they go out of their way to spoil you with fresh treats from the main lodge kitchen. Birdsong was a constant, magical backdrop. Thanks to Abby, Eli, and their wonderful help, whose names I can't remember. We also loved Coromandel Town, with its vibrant arts scene and talented local artists. The Driving Creek Railway is an extraordinary way to experience the life and work of a ceramic artist, and shouldn't be missed. The walks near town are lovely. We left feeling there was still more to do, so we plan to return to Buffalo Lodge on our next trip to New Zealand.

The room had the most beautiful view, and the whole accommodation really blew us away. It's a breathtaking property just up the hill from Coromandel town. Breakfast was delicious and all the staff were wonderful. We'll be back!

The room views are amazing, especially at sunset, and the rooms are comfortable. There are several shared seating spaces, including an upstairs area with games, which are great for hanging out. It was lovely waking up to Kierry's friendly face. She's helpful and made our mornings feel like home.

The house has such a warm, open feel, and the view is phenomenal. We felt really welcome at this small private lodge, with care and personal touches in every detail. Breakfast was delicious, simple in size but made with lovely quality ingredients, including some homemade things.
