Harvest Park Studios

The room was absurdly tiny, and getting to it from the parking area was a trek. There was no stovetop, hardly any cutlery or dishes, and not a single sharp knife for food prep. This was the priciest motel on our 10-day South Island holiday, yet easily the worst by far. It was new and clean, and the staff were fine, but the location was awful. There are nicer places for better value elsewhere. I won't be back, and if I could, I wouldn't give it even one star.

We were on bikes, so the distance to amenities made the location less convenient for us. That wouldn't be a problem with a car. The place is well maintained, about five years old, and laid out efficiently. The owner-operator was friendly and helpful, and it was a peaceful spot near the racetrack.

The owners or management clearly put a lot into making this place welcoming and homey, with the things guests might need. I especially loved the huge, well-equipped kitchen, easily the nicest I've seen in a hotel, along with the laundry room and spacious lounge with puzzles and games. Everything was spotless, and the owner, I think, was warm and welcoming. They were also very accommodating when we arrived late. I was extremely happy with my stay.

The receptionist was so kind, even asking if I'd like some milk when I arrived. The rooms are modern and really tidy, and the whole place is clean. A lovely place to stay, highly recommend it.
