Cumberland Motel

Arnold, the Motel Manager, was the best part of our stay. He was always smiling and very helpful, and when I explained that the downstairs room we’d first been offered was far below what I expected, he arranged a move to a much better upstairs room for the next day without hesitation. His quick help made the rest of our four nights in January 2026 comfortable and good value. Five stars for his service.

The staff were really flexible when we arrived late, and when we mentioned the bathroom light kept flickering on and off, it was fixed straight away. My husband also had a good chat and laugh with one of the friendly staff. We had an awesome stay, and the location made it easy to get everywhere.

We booked a family room for five adults for a last-minute New Year’s getaway, and it suited us perfectly. The place was tidy and comfortable, with everything we needed, and the owner was very accommodating. It’s a short distance from the city, botanical gardens and restaurants. A great little motel for a reasonable price, and we’d stay again.

The woman in the office was really nice, and everything else was fine. It’s an old building, though, and I wasn’t sure whether the sheets were clean. Laundry was $10, compared with $8 at campsites. If all you need is a cheap place to sleep, it does the job.
