The room was in poor shape and didn't work well for young children, despite being advertised as a family room. Small kids could reach the phone and electrical sockets. One socket looked blown and was covered with cellotape. There was a strange smell in the bathroom, stains on the carpet and couch, and the toilet roll holder broke as soon as it was touched. The bathroom window had no latch, so it could be opened from outside. The bathroom door handle was very loose and nearly falling off. The worn kitchen tap sprayed water at me while I used it.

I travelled from Auckland on Friday evening, and although most motels nearby were booked, I quickly found a room here for five people. The service was fast and efficient. Many thanks to the team at Valdez Motor Lodge for being so hospitable. I'd definitely recommend the lodge.

I've stayed twice, and both times the staff were nice enough but the room was disgusting. There was a lingering urine smell, stained carpets, and rusty, broken bathroom fixtures. These problems seem to have been ignored for quite a while. I wouldn't stay again unless the place improves from its current dog-kennel standard.

I was here for work travel and had a couple of room problems. The shower head was loose and wouldn't work, but staff helped when I asked for a screwdriver to fix it. The WiFi kept cutting out, which made the TV unusable.

We stayed for a week and had a great experience. The room and bathroom were spacious, there was plenty of parking, and the receptionist was welcoming and helpful. Service was spot on. Our son enjoyed the pools, and shops, the dairy and Hastings town were all close by for shopping and eating out. The internet was slow at times, maybe because of the weather. We'd come back 😊
