Purple Hen Country Lodge

The Princess Rm was cozy and clean, with a really comfortable bed and pillows. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, and the location was fantastic. We enjoyed great walks and views at nearby Karangahate Gorge and Bowen Town, Shelly Bay. There was even a short nature walk around the property where we could appreciate fruit trees like avocado and grinkgo, plus native NZ trees including Manuka and Kanuka. I'd highly recommend this peaceful, serene place to nature lovers.

We slept really well in Purple Hen, even though I usually have trouble sleeping. Andrea and Rupert were warm, hospitable hosts, and we were grateful for that. The rooms were spacious and clean, with very comfortable beds and pillows. The lounge and pantry area were roomy and well equipped too. My family had a relaxing, lovely stay, and I'd recommend Purple Hen to anyone needing accommodation in Katikati.

Room 1 was huge and cozy, thanks in part to the heat pump, and the shower had amazing pressure, like getting a massage. Andrea and Rupert were charming and accommodating hosts, and everything was exceptionally clean. I loved the quirky, comfy sofas in the shared lounge, and the kitchen had more than enough equipment. Pata-tennis was great, with plenty of board games too. I stayed at the Purple Hen for one night and will totally be back next time I'm marching in Tauranga. Thanks for a great stay, guys.

It's a fun country setting, though a bit out of the way and you'll need a car. The community kitchen and loungers were clean and well set up. Bring your own groceries!
