After checkout, we were still waiting for our $510 deposit to be returned, and our follow up emails had received no reply when I wrote this. We raised several problems during our stay, but they weren’t properly addressed. The property fell far short on service, cleanliness, and maintenance, and based on our experience, I’d tell everyone to stay well away. The rooms we got weren’t the ones we had originally booked. A shower door was damaged and remained unrepaired after we reported it, and a door handle fell off on the first day and was never fixed. There was rotten food in the oven when we arrived. The room clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned, and even after raising it, we had to remove the food ourselves. The listing advertises Sky TV with “60+ channels,” but that wasn’t available during our stay.

We had a fantastic stay. The quiet room was immaculate, with stylish decor and a bed that was incredibly comfortable. Even the linens felt high quality. I’d happily recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a lovely getaway.

After a four hour drive, we arrived at 11 pm to find nobody at reception. We were travelling from Australia without a NZ SIM, and a kind guest helped us contact reception. The woman who came to meet us was the rudest person I’ve dealt with. She said they didn’t handle Agoda bookings, even though the hotel is advertised there, and told us to request a refund from Agoda. She also said no rooms were available. When we insisted because we had nowhere to stay, she offered a three bedroom apartment for $300. We only needed one room and asked if there was any flexibility. She then offered one room for $200 plus a $100 bond. The bond was never returned. She claimed we’d used more than one bedroom, which wasn’t true. We checked two beds to see whether the sheets were dirty or had bugs because the place was disgusting. The reception area was dirty, the apartment filthy, and the shower had clearly just been used. There was dried urine splashed all over the bathroom floor. The service was rude and unprofessional. Horrible place and service. Avoid it.

Avante motels welli If you’re a discerning traveller, don’t be fooled by the word Executive. That’s a joke. The rooms are okay at best, but dirty and unhygienic, and the hygiene and reception practices are seriously questionable. I’ve taken photos to prove it. I’m risking staying here for the next couple of nights, but I’ll post them afterward to warn people. Cheers, Nicki
