The place is close to the airport, and there’s a dairy and supermarket about a five-minute walk up the road. My daughter and I stayed overnight at the beginning of April 2016 before flying back to Perth. The hosts were friendly and helpful. I found Mikki a little hard to understand on the phone about the booking, but she was very welcoming when we arrived. It’s an old place, though warm and cosy, and the showers were clean and fine. We enjoyed our stay and would come back when I visit home in NZ :)

A handy option for a night while waiting for a flight out of Auckland. It’s about five minutes from the airport, and the price is roughly the same as a bus ticket into town. The beds and surroundings were comfortable, and the customer service was excellent.

We were comfortable here, and the guy running the place was keen to make sure we could get a peaceful night before our 4 a.m. airport departure. The shared kitchen is large, with some free items such as milk, pasta and sauces clearly marked. We ended up in an outside cabin; the room and bathrooms were tatty. I’d stay again and have no complaints, although I’d probably choose somewhere closer to the airport if I could. Keep in mind the shuttle costs extra. The Ibis is close enough to walk to, and its room wasn’t much more expensive.

We called after we were already at the airport and they came to collect us a few minutes later. The ride cost $7 per person. Staff were friendly and helpful, and it’s a nice place. There’s an ATM, supermarket and restaurants nearby. The kitchen has what you need to cook, with free tea and coffee. Laundry and dryer use costs $8.

The managers were very unfriendly and unprofessional. They blamed guests for their own mistakes and said that various things about guests were pissing them off. In my view, they’re not suited to the tourism business. Don’t stay here. If you’re unsure, read a few random Tripadvisor ratings. I’d hate for this place to spoil your NZ trip. Consider yourself warned.
