The team really knows their wine, and the place has that rustic, very Martinborough feel. I like that it’s family-run rather than owned by out-of-town billionaires. The wine is great, and now there’s gin too, which is exciting. We had a lovely homemade meal at Margrain kitchen as well. Thanks for showing us around the wines :)

We were happy to take a few bottles back to Canada. The wines were all delicious at the tasting, and it’s such a cute winery. We’ll try the restaurant next time we’re in town.

I’ve always been a big fan of Margrain’s wine, especially the Rose and Chardonnay. I only recently tried their platters, and thought they were delicious and really good value. Thanks, Margrain 🥰

We’d booked a late lunch for six friends at 3pm on 4th April. We enjoyed tasting the gin and ordered fries and a sharing platter, but by 4pm staff were bringing in the “Open” sign and changing the restaurant sign to closed. Our waitress asked how we’d enjoyed the meal, and we had to tell her we hadn’t received it. She said the order had never reached the kitchen. How can an order be taken and not passed on for the food to be made? It’s not a good look for a restaurant, and it spoiled the experience.

The family feeling the team shared really warmed my heart, and I loved the wines too. We had a lovely vineyard tour and tasting. If you’re around Martinborough District, I’d strongly recommend it. I enjoyed it more than some better-known vineyards, since the people here seemed to genuinely care about us and gave us their time.
