Poenamo Hotel

The price was very good, and the central location put us near several amenities and the main motorway. I stayed in the original wing, which meant I could park right outside my door. It had all the basics you'd expect from a hotel of this rating. I'll definitely return next time I'm in Auckland.

The room was great, clean and tidy, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in. I was welcomed very professionally at reception. I'd definitely stay again.

The bathroom ventilation wasn't adequate, and there was black mould throughout. On top of that, the bar next door had an outdoor DJ on Sunday evening, and it felt like the music was right in our bedroom. We had booked the Jade room for Sunday and Monday night. When I went downstairs to complain, the woman told me to come back in the morning. I gave service two stars instead of one only because they let us check out after the first night and refunded the unused night. I wouldn't recommend it.

The villa was nice to stay in, but it could use some care. The master bedroom needs new curtains, and the broken vertical blinds really don't work. Someone asked if I needed the beds made; I asked to have the kitchen bins emptied, but wound up doing it myself. It was also a shock to come out on Saturday at 7am and find a work crew there. I nearly had a heart attack when a guy walked past the front door.
