ASURE Admirals View Motel

The staff were great, but I was surprised by the reviews because the motel itself felt tired and basic, and not worth what we paid. The layout is poor, with people walking past most rooms all the time, so the balconies and decks feel very public and privacy suffers. The kitchen gear is old, battered, and unclean, and the views are hard to enjoy without privacy. With new competition in the area, they need to lower the price.

I’ve stayed in a lot of Paihia hotels, and this one has topped them all for me. The bed and pillows are super comfy, the rooms are fantastic, and having a pool is a huge bonus. They even provide complimentary barista coffee in the morning, which is a lovely touch. Angela and the team are incredibly welcoming and make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. I’ve been here a couple of times now, and it never disappoints. Highly recommend!

The manager and small team were incredibly helpful, which made for a great stay. I spent three nights here on my own. The room was tastefully decorated, with a huge bed, all the amenities, and basic cooking facilities if needed. It’s a great location, a block back from the beach. There’s no pool here, but the owner offered access to the pool next door.

Free coffee every morning out front of the office, served from the smallest camper. First, coffee! It’s a New Zealand gem, with great views and a good location for wandering around Paihia. Glad we came and stayed.
