You’re close to Paihia shops, the children’s playground and the waterfront, which is great. The peace is disrupted somewhat by noise from other tenants and the water pipes, as the rooms aren’t soundproof. The family room was advertised as sleeping five. We asked to add an extra 5-year-old and were charged $60 per night for him to sleep on our own air mattress.

The waterfront is lively and only about 200 metres away, while the shops are less than 100 metres from the motel. It still feels quiet here, and our large studio was spotless and really comfortable. Suzi & Greg were friendly and helpful again, just as they were on our previous stay. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. It ticks all the boxes for us, highly recommended.

The Couples Retreat was roomy, very clean, and had beds that were so comfortable. The hosts were lovely, and being right in the town centre made the location hard to beat. Thanks for such an easy, comfortable stay. I’d gladly come back.

The room itself was tidy and clean, but I barely slept. Some guests were very loud late into the night, and nobody from the motel stepped in. The noise was a major problem.

Small grocery shops are right along the same street, and the waterfront is just about a minute on foot, though there’s plenty to see on the way. The place sits just beyond the busy part of this lovely little town, so the setting feels great. The owners were pleasant and friendly, and the rooms were nicely presented with what you need. I’d definitely recommend staying here in Paihia, Bay of Islands.
