Accommodation Gateway Motel

The beds were awful, so soft that I sank into the mattress and had trouble rolling over or getting up. The unit was very dated and wasn't a clean, comfortable place to unwind after a long trip and a big day. We were told it would be serviced on day two, but all we got were two clean towels. The beds weren't made, and the shower, toilet, and basin weren't cleaned. There was a tap dripping all night, and no Sky TV. We booked two nights at a quoted $143 per night for two adults, but were charged $147 on arrival. DO NOT RECOMMEND THE GATEWAY MOTEL!

We had six rooms booked for our group, including international visitors, and none of us thought this room was worth $250nzd a night. The price was hugely inflated for the weekend because a motorcycle rally was on. My husband found a massive adult toy by his bedside when we arrived. I got there the next day and was immediately disgusted by the dated, dirty decor. The bathroom tap won't turn off, everything seems to have been painted over, and the place smells. The three pillows in our room were all flat as pancakes. I've never been so disappointed by accommodation. I wouldn't let my dog stay here. Don't be fooled by the online photos.

The motel is a bit dated, but clean and quiet, and the beds were very comfortable. There's no air conditioning, although it looked like they were updating rooms one at a time, as I saw some with it. The manager was helpful and polite. I'd stay again.

The bedroom was disappointing: its seat wobbled, there was no rubbish bin, and the fan was so badly fitted that it fell on my head while I was showering. The room itself was okay, clean, and well equipped.
