Jessica came back to help our girls after they locked themselves out of their room, and we're so grateful. The staff are amazing. This quaint pub accommodation was a great stop for our family travelling from Tauranga to Wellington. The rooms are modest but have what you need, and the price was fantastic.

We first came for a meal three years ago, and the portions were huge and absolutely delicious. We returned last night and the meals were just as generous and delicious. The chef works hard, and so does the staff with him.

We stopped for a beer, then decided to stay for dinner. The food looked good, tasted great, and was reasonably priced. The local patrons were great, and so were the bar staff.

The service at Gretna Hotel really impressed me. The lady at Taihape Information recommended it when I asked about The Rusty Nail back packers, which has closed down. I'd stayed there a few times for Targa Rally Motorsports. I had a great night's sleep in my own Queen room with ensuite. The restaurant meal was beautiful, too. Compliments to the Chef and staff: my steak was cooked medium rare to perfection, with salad, chips and creamed mushrooms. The staff at Gretna Hotel Taihape, thank you. I very much enjoyed my first stay and definitely plan to return. It reminded me of my old-school days working as a kitchen hand at the Debretts Hotel Wellington on Lambton Quay in the early '70s. They had staff quarters, and the actual Hotel brought back memories.

Such a friendly place, and the service was outstanding. The meals were really fresh and full of flavour. I'd definitely go back.
