The Rocks Chalets

After the Kahurangi 500 loop, this was the best place I stayed. Isaac was so kind and went out of his way to help. The rooms were clean, modern and comfortable, with nice bathroom soaps and clean showers. Being able to use the car was a lovely extra, and the glowworm cave onsite is great. Thanks, Isaac, you’re the man!

The outdoor bath was a real treat, and the little cave nearby made the stay even better. Everything was comfortable and clean. The owner and her son were so lovely and made the visit wonderful for me and my wee son. Thanks so much, we’ll definitely be back ❤️ If it’s sold by then, good luck with your future plans. We were used to five-star places before arriving in Takaka, so The Rocks Chalets caught us off guard at first. We weren’t sure what to expect, but the friendly owner showed us to a large, quiet, private and clean room that was comfortable and felt homey. We could park right outside, and the chalet had everything we needed. The rooms aren’t luxurious, but they make up for that with their character, facilities, privacy, lovely garden setting, complete quiet and welcoming hosts. There’s a really cool glow worm grotto on the property, and a gorgeous, very vocal cat who was happy to say hello. Takaka is a short drive away, where we picked up groceries and cooked dinner in the chalet. We absolutely loved our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to come back if we’re in the area again.

We had a fabulous, really unique stay. The room was huge and had cooking facilities, and town was close by. Sitting in the outdoor bath and watching the Kereru fly past was a highlight. Awesome hosts, too.
