Central Park Motor Inn

The owner was very friendly, and check-in went perfectly. The room was clean, but dated and had a terrible musty smell, like a motel room from a 70s movie. The wallpaper was peeling, with black seams at the bottom of the bedroom walls, which made us wonder if there was a moisture issue. In the middle of the night, we found a huge cockroach climbing on the wall. At $200 a night, that wasn’t what we expected. The owner was friendly, though.

It’s easy to find and conveniently located for travellers. Our room was lovely and extremely clean, and the bathroom’s massive spa bath was sparkling. The hosts were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, going the extra mile to store our frozen goods and even move our car when we were unwell and needed it moved. I only wish I’d taken photos before our suitcases and bags exploded everywhere.

The owners and staff were A1, and the roses outside the rooms smelled glorious. The meals were awesome, especially the superbly cooked bacon. Our room could use a little TLC: the toilet roll holder needs screwing back to the wall, and mats on top of the bedside tables might help.

The bed was comfortable, but the motel as a whole was poorly maintained, with peeling wallpaper. It was clean, yet very old and below standard. The manager was unapologetic about extremely bad service. Worst accommodation of our whole trip. Stay somewhere else.
