The garden-facing room was spacious, had everything we needed, and came with some Whittaker’s bars. We also got a lovely view of Lake Te Anau right outside. But what we'll remember most is Phil. He let us check in early in the morning, showed us around, and introduced us to Chubby, the beautiful sheep, as well as his Ford Thunderbird. He was so kind and considerate, even wearing a mask the whole time because he had a slight cold. Phil also pointed us to a bookshop in Manapouri, where we made the best purchases of our whole visit to Te Anau. We kept thinking about him as we travelled on. He's quite possibly one of the best B&B hosts in history, and we'll never thank him enough. If we're back in the Southlands, we'll come visit him and Chubby. Thanks again, Phil!

The views here are absolutely stunning, and we even got to feed the resident sheep. Phil was so welcoming and had great tips for the area. We loved our three-night stay at the start of our New Zealand trip, and would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Te Anau or the Milford Sounds area.

Phil made us feel welcome from the moment we turned into the driveway, and even let us meet and feed his sheep after breakfast. The breakfast itself was locally sourced, with homemade organic bread from a family friend. Our room felt professionally cleaned, and the bed was softer than any hotel bed we've slept in. This was our first B&B in New Zealand, and Loch Vista exceeded every expectation. We'd recommend it to anyone passing through Te Anau.

Phil was a very welcoming host and had great suggestions for restaurants and sightseeing. The living and dining areas are shared, but they have nice views. Breakfast was cereal, a small amount of fruit, yogurt, toast, and tea or coffee. Our room itself was small, with its only view facing the parking lot. We had to keep the curtains closed for privacy from arriving cars and people. There was no refrigerator in the room, so we had to use the shared one in the garage, and there was no air-conditioning. It was very hot while we were there. The other rooms for rent seemed to have more privacy and better views, so it may be worth asking which room you'll get, since it can really affect your stay.
