We stayed for 8 days, and the staff were friendly and really helpful. I had a foot injury and couldn't manage my bag on the stairs, but they were happy to carry it up and down. The room was lovely, clean, and spacious.

Our limited time in Te Anau ended up overshadowed by the stress of having to find last-minute accommodation and being made to feel dishonest. There'd been a misunderstanding about what our booking email confirmed. We thought it was sorted at check-in, but the next day we were told to leave our room straight away and find somewhere else. When we came back, we overheard a manager and the check-in staff member loudly discussing the situation with inappropriate language. A staff member had also entered our room without notice. Soon after, we were approached confrontationally and accused of trying to get an unfair upgrade. They said they would have moved our belongings if we hadn't returned. I tried to calm things down, but the interaction stayed tense and focused little on solving the problem. We were told the accommodation originally booked for us was no longer available. When we asked for a refund for the remaining two nights, they were initially reluctant, even though we had evidence the error wasn't ours.

The room was super clean, and we had a great stay. We booked the wrong night by accident for a last-minute one-night visit, but the owner was extremely helpful and still got us into a room. He also knew a lot about the town and what to do.

The kitchenette was well equipped, and after a day exploring this beautiful area it was lovely to return to a warm room and comfortable bed. Our room was very clean and had a newly renovated bathroom. Parklands Motel is on a quiet street, yet it's just a short walk through a pretty park to restaurants and other services. We appreciated the updates before we arrived and the friendly welcome. No request felt like too much. Thanks, Parklands Motel. We'd recommend it and would stay again. 😊

Most of the area was without power for two days during the unbelievable weather, and I'm so glad we were staying here. The team checked on us, fed us, and made sure we had enough bedding to stay warm. They were fabulous and made us feel like part of the family, going above and beyond. When I return to New Zealand, this will be my first stop. I can't recommend them enough.
