Bristol Motel

There were lots of cockroaches crawling on the walls, and they seemed to be coming from the kitchen. We rented the house accommodation next door, a typical three-bedroom place with one bathroom and one toilet. It had been repainted at some point, but the beds were far too soft, and the main bedroom had no curtain, so sleeping in wasn’t possible.

The hostess was so lovely and even offered me her car so I could get dinner. Service was over-the-top awesome. The room was spotless and nicely presented, and the shower was huge, could fit four in there, lol. AAA+++ highly recommend. I’ll stay again next time I’m in Wellington.

We paid for two units for two nights, but one of the pit crews didn’t end up staying. The rooms also weren’t up to standard for their price. What made things worse was the owner’s response when I asked to change the booking because of the nature of motorsport. I’d understand their position if they’d been full and turned away other guests, but they weren’t fully booked. I estimate only a few rooms were in use while we were there, so being denied a refund of $1650.00 on the grounds of lost income doesn’t sit well. I asked if we could meet in the middle, but that was declined too. It’s a shame my request fell on deaf ears. We could have come back twice over the year for more racing and brought other pit crews, but I won’t be recommending the place.

We stayed in the two-bedroom Chalet. It was tidy enough and works as a budget option, but it’s definitely ready for a freshen up.
