Pipers Lodge

The room was spacious, with comfortable beds, and the toilet and shower tucked behind the wall were really nice. We booked a room with continental breakfast, though an upgrade is available. After a long hike, it was lovely to unwind in the spa pool, which you can reserve for an hour. Thanks to the team, especially Constantin, the German backpacker working there. He was attentive and really helpful with all our questions. Such a lovely place to stay.

We had the best family getaway here with my three children, and our host Kris was wonderful. She was one of the kindest people I've ever met and made us feel welcome and cared for the whole time, going above and beyond to make the trip more enjoyable. Thank you, Kris. Her kindness made this a holiday we'll remember forever 💖 The beds were super comfortable, and there was endless tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The pool room and arcade were a hit, the breakfast had plenty of options, and the cooking facilities were great. Mini golf and rock climbing are just around the corner. This place has everything and more!

The shared spaces were the reason we picked this place, but for the first two nights, large school groups had taken over the main lounge, games rooms and spa pools. With our young family, we could hardly use any of them. I asked the owner for a discount for those nights, but he argued and refused. We stayed three nights, and the last one was okay once we could use the place comfortably.

Julie at reception made our stay easy. She helped us book a shuttle and did everything she could to make us comfortable. The lodge is also perfectly located for the Tongariro Crossing, and Summit Shuttles could pick us up and drop us back there.
