Anndion Lodge - Backpacker

The rooms aren’t large, and the setup is basic, but there’s good value here. The shared bathroom and shower were really good, and the shared kitchen had everything we needed. If you don’t need to stay in the main town, it’s a great option.

The room was exceptionally clean, with a comfortable bed, and the staff were wonderful and always ready to help. They’d ask if I needed anything whenever I saw them. Check-in was easy, guest parking was available, and the motel was surprisingly quiet despite being beside a busy road. Staff were friendly and polite, respected my privacy, and were happy to chat if I wanted. I stayed for seven nights and used the laundry service, which was much easier than finding a launderette. It’s affordable, close to town, and the river is across the road. I highly recommend Anndion Lodge Motel Whanganui, 143 Anzac Parade, Whanganui East, Whanganui 4500.

It feels like a quiet, secluded little resort, with a pool and clean, spacious rooms. Such a beautiful place to stay, and lovely for both kids and adults. Highly recommend 😊

The pool, spa and BBQ area have all fallen into decay and aren’t being used anymore. I also struggled every time to unlock my room, fiddling with its cheap, useless doorknob and key. I’d never stay here again.
