Whanganui Seaside Holiday Park

A really family-friendly place, close to the beach, and the staff were lovely. Behind the holiday park there's a great park with a skatepark, playground and zip line. The facilities include a great family room, indoor and outdoor games to keep the kids entertained, a pool and sauna. We all had the best stay. The family accommodation was just right, with good-sized, clean and tidy rooms and everything we needed for a getaway. Absolutely awesome holiday park, highly recommend it.

A lovely little pet-friendly spot, with a convenience store and cafe right at the gate and a beach and huge family playground next door. The campground was impeccably kept, the salt water pool and other facilities were excellent, and staff were welcoming, helpful and awesome. It was quite windy on this coastal site during our January stay, which made tenting a bit difficult, but that's the weather. Beyond the beach and playground there's not much to do except relax with a book or drive 10 minutes into town for activities. Thanks for having us.

The cabin was only cleanish, the fridge wasn't clean, and the beds were uncomfortable. For a family of four staying six nights, there was one bar of soap, luckily we'd brought our own. The wifi barely worked, and the tent and van sites are crammed in: we had a tent right outside our door and another outside the other side window, so it wasn't very quiet. There was also a $30 charge to my card after checkout for cleaning pet hair. We did have pet hair on everything we owned, and after six nights it was bound to get into the unit. They charged another $20 for our two small dogs to stay on the property, too. The booking site lists this place as pet friendly but doesn't say pets are only allowed in tents and vans, not units. I only found that out after paying the deposit. We visit Wanganui regularly, but won't stay here again. There's a park across the road, but onsite, apart from the pool, there's nothing for kids like at other holiday parks.

There were three of us riding motorcycles through the area, and this worked out as a good place to stay. It was cleaner and tidier than we expected.
