Royal Crown Hotel

The second room was in better shape, but still hadn’t been cleaned properly. There were white residue marks on the shower floor tiles. I asked reception to have it cleaned, and they said someone would come, but nobody did. At checkout, we told the receptionist on duty what had happened and that cleaning staff never came. She said we should have returned three or four times to report it. We wouldn’t recommend this hotel, even for a few hours, let alone overnight. The cleanliness and professionalism were poor, and the location felt unsafe to us. Women were soliciting on the street outside, and my wife couldn’t go out alone even to buy something nearby. The area made us uncomfortable from the start. Our first room was filthy, with stains all over the armchairs and curtains, and burn marks on the bedside tables, shelves, and even in the bathroom. The bathroom was dirty too. We were told it was a smoking room, and we are smokers, but the smell was so overwhelming we couldn’t bear it. The night there was a nightmare. We asked to change rooms the next morning, and even the receptionist seemed surprised we’d managed to sleep there. The replacement room came later that evening.

For our three nights as tourists, the location in Muscat was very good and the price reasonable. It’s a nice hotel with plenty of parking and a good breakfast. No complaints.

I’m completely disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this hotel. For two days I complained that the WiFi wasn’t working, but staff kept saying the issue was my phone. They tried to convince me of that even after I tested on my laptop and still had no internet on the sixth floor. Nobody cleaned or serviced my room during those two days, either. There were no towels or tissue paper, and nothing was refilled. I’d give less than one star if I could.

The connecting rooms gave our family of two adults and three children plenty of space, and they were clean and comfortable. We stayed one night at Royal Crown Hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly at check-in and throughout. Restaurants, shops, and a mall are within walking distance, which is convenient with kids. Free WiFi, comfortable beds, and the family-friendly atmosphere all made for a pleasant stay. Good value in Muscat, and I’d recommend it to families 👍
