Albrook Inn

Breakfast was great both mornings: fruit, cheese, eggs, sausage, pancakes or scones/ojaldras, croissants, and a few other choices. The restaurant and pool area are lush and beautiful, and there’s a fun little trail through the jungle behind the hotel. The room was fairly clean, though the window had been left open without its screen, so a few bugs got in. No big deal. The room was loud and bright. Even with the windows closed, we could hear people talking outside, and the windows and doors don’t block sound well. The curtains couldn’t keep out the bright lights either. The facilities could use more upkeep and investment. Still, it was decent value for the money.

We spotted some animals in the backyard and enjoyed walking the jungle trail behind the hotel. The neighborhood is beautiful and close to lots of places. Our room was clean, though the walls are a bit thin. The staff were wonderful, and I’d stay here again.

The event hadn’t even started, but we already felt neglected. We’d reserved a table a few hours earlier and wanted to sit outside, only to find preparations underway for an event that nobody had mentioned. The room was messy, with tables and chairs oddly arranged and no cutlery on the other tables. There was no paper or crayons for the children while we waited so long for the food. Our server brought neither water nor cutlery at first. The food took an hour, and the portions were ridiculously small for the price. If I remember right, the fish in the photo was $16 on the menu. We had to ask for cutlery after the food arrived, and the server didn’t acknowledge the delay. We didn’t stay at the hotel, but our visit to Gardens restaurant was really disappointing. We won’t return or recommend it to people in the area.

The restaurant was good, and the location is close to everything you need. The rooms are older, but they have AC and hot water. My only issue was that there was no microwave or mini-fridge in the room.
