The food itself wasn’t horrible, but the people running this restaurant were another story. They quoted one price, then brought a much larger bill, and after I asked about Happy Hour they showed me a menu I hadn’t seen before. They also added a service charge that I considered a fake tax. When I asked them to remove it, they refused and seemed to hope I’d leave. I came back after confirming that charging a made-up tax on top of menu prices is ILLEGAL. I did get my money back, though they tried hard to act like they couldn’t understand me. A scam, and these guys are professional thieves.

The restaurant next door played awful music very loudly through bad speakers until midnight. That was rough when I had to get up at 4am to climb to Machu Picchu. The hotel rooms were depressing, and the bathroom window had been boarded up from the other side so the separate restaurant could be opened there. For basic clean water, the guy wanted 12 soles, the most expensive water I’ve seen anywhere in Peru. I’d just paid 4 soles for the same size bottle in Cusco. This place is really overpriced for what it is. If you can afford it, stay somewhere a bit better.

We ordered a medium veggie pizza to take away. I noticed they were about to put the whole cooked pizza into a dirty plastic cover, so I asked for a box instead. The base wasn’t cooked properly either. I hadn’t known someone could ruin a pizza like that.

In the restaurant, you never get everything you pay for. At the lodging, the sheets they gave us had clearly been used and not washed, and they don’t provide towels either.

We waited ages for a pizza because the first one had burned. The waiter had been playing with the dog, then served us food with those same hands. And to get the fire going inside the oven, they use old tables or whatever else they can find. Horrible place.
