The island is beautiful, the house is gorgeous, and the food was fresh and delicious. The team gave us such a warm welcome. It was a relaxing stay but also interesting, and I'd happily return. Highly recommend it for a great trip to the lake.

The service getting to the place is spectacular and feels wonderfully decadent. Add the food, and you'll think you've died and gone to heaven. If you're going to treat yourself on Lake Titicaca, this is the place for it. Total luxury.

I paid a deposit directly more than four months ahead, then two months later they contacted me saying there had been a “misunderstanding.” They had let someone else book over my reservation and said they hadn't known I had paid. The alternative they offered was somewhere near Ecuador, on the other side of the country. My original booking still hasn't been honored, and I still haven't received my money back. UPDATE: After 24 hours, management said the oversight was my fault because I hadn't told them I'd received an email confirming the deposit. I'm still waiting for the refund. UPDATE: At 48 hours, there was still no refund. Management said they could only refund me several days later and only after I provided all my personal banking information, leaving me more exposed to this scam. Hours ago, I gave them four other ways to refund me. I'm still stranded without my money. UPDATE: Nearly 96 hours now, no refund, and no communication for over a day. UPDATE: Eight days later, STILL NO REFUND. Contact has been minimal, and management said their email server doesn't work well. Two days ago we finally agreed to use PayPal for the refund. Today they said my information had only just been passed to their finance team, probably the same person, and they were going to charge me a refund fee for their mistakes. That's on top of the interest I've lost while they held my money and the foreign transaction fee I'll have to pay PayPal. UPDATE: Two weeks later and still no refund. These days it takes a lot to amaze me, but this sure looks like an elaborate SCAM. UPDATE: Nearly a month now, and still no refund. UPDATE: Etica Peru, I'm still waiting for my PayPal payment. Ami Dulude promised me this wasn't a scam, but Amantica Lodge and the “Etica Experience” took my reservation deposit and left me with nothing.

Avoid this place. I prepaid $3200 months ahead, then noticed the room was still listed as available on our booked dates. They won't answer my emails or calls. They stole my money. Total rip-off and scam.
