Casa Andina Select Arequipa Plaza

We enjoyed breakfast on the lovely terrace each morning. It was included and had a great range of choices, and the staff were friendly and attentive. From the dining area and pool deck, there are amazing views over Plaza de Armas, a nice place to unwind in the afternoon or evening. The gym was well equipped and even had a refillable water station. We had a great stay at Casa Andina Select Plaza de Armas, with excellent facilities and a prime location. We'd highly recommend it for the views, location, and amenities.

The main drawback was the noise. Sound carried between rooms well enough that we could hear other guests and were disturbed, even woken, at night. There were also recurring mechanical noises from different parts of the hotel. In spite of that, we were pleased with the staff, who were exceptional. When we left, they walked with us to the taxi stand because taxis can't enter the pedestrian area where the hotel is. We had a spacious room with a balcony facing Plaza de Armas and the cathedral. Breakfast was included and started at 6:00 AM. There was coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice, fruit, bread and pastries, yogurt, salad, bacon, sausage, eggs, cold cuts, cheese, cereal, pancakes, and a meat dish that changed daily, such as beef stew or chicken stir fry. On a sunny afternoon we also enjoyed cooling off and relaxing by the pool and on the sun deck. We chose this hotel for our Arequipa stay during a trip around Peru, and the location, food, and service were excellent overall.

I was in town for meetings with a group, and the catering was decent. The location is right on the plaza, with good service. Breakfast had lots to choose from, and I used the nice gym twice. It was too cool for me to try the rooftop pool, though the views from up there were great. My room was nicely furnished and had a private patio and a great bathroom. Housekeeping was very friendly, and the laundry I left with the hotel was ready in about 5-6 hours. There was some music and street noise at night, but it wasn't too bad compared with other places I've stayed. There are great restaurants around this tourist area. As a first-time visitor to Peru, I might stay here again when I'm visiting AQP.

I've stayed at other Casa Andina properties in Pucallpa, Chiclayo, Piura, and Paracas, and the Select Hotel in Arequipa has the best location, right on the main square beside the Cathedral. I came for business, but it felt like a mini vacation. The place was safe, quiet, and peaceful, and I slept really well. I could work calmly in my room and in the shared spaces. I felt at home, even more so than at the other properties. I'm looking forward to returning with my family for a proper vacation.
