Lovely staff and a breakfast with plenty of choice. There are lots of shops and laundry nearby, and it’s a good location, about a seven-minute walk to the centre.

The breakfasts were very good, and I thought the location was fine. My friend felt uneasy there at night, but it wasn’t a busy street and there were usually a few people around. Cusco seemed pretty safe to me. It’s about a ten-minute walk to the Intrepid office if you’re traveling with them. The hotel itself felt like a two-star place. It was tidy, but our window faced the atrium, an outlet was coming out of the wall, and the thin walls let us hear neighbors using the bathroom. The beds were comfortable enough, but getting sleep was difficult. There was a lot of noise on the stairs and in the lobby around 3-5 a.m. On Friday and Saturday, the place next door played music until the early hours. It was loud enough that I felt the vibrations through the bed, and earplugs didn’t help. I was exhausted and needed rest before my three-day hike, but there wasn’t much chance of that. Intrepid travelers arriving early may want somewhere else to rest first. WiFi is available, and there’s purified water in the central seating area, though nobody told me, so I bought water on my first day. Toiletries were bar soap and shampoo packets, so bring your own conditioner if you need it.

The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean, and the location works well for the centre of Cusco. I first stayed as part of an organized tour, then booked extra nights on my own. Breakfast was great, with eggs cooked to order and a good range of choices. The staff were really helpful and stored our cases while we went on local tours. There can be some noise because the rooms are arranged around a central courtyard, but it wasn’t too bad.

For the value, this was my best stay in Cusco: a good room, varied breakfast and hospitable, friendly staff. Before booking, I told Sabi at reception that I needed somewhere quiet because I’m a light sleeper and had slept badly at two noisy hotels before. She put me in a corner room on the fourth floor, which was great. I could barely hear street noise and only faint sounds from the lobby. Sabi, Cesar and the rest of the team were lovely, as was the breakfast woman who made delicious eggs (I forgot to ask her name). My only suggestion is to offer guests filtered drinking water as well as hot water.
