Hostal Mamaquqa

We booked an apartment for six, but after we paid the deposit they said there was "overbooking" and offered two mini-apartments with the same amenities and elevator access. We were traveling with senior citizens, so elevator access was a condition. At check-in, we found that the larger mini-apartment, which we had planned for the seniors, had no elevator access and was missing promised amenities. One TV was just for show. It was in the only unit with a dining table, so we'd have to use that one most of the time, but it had no refrigerator or microwave. The gas cylinder was empty, there weren't enough dishes, and the living room windows faced the main entrance with no curtains, leaving no privacy. When we complained, they offered a refund that would have left us without accommodation. We had no choice but to accept the units and carry food from one floor to another. They also tried to limit our parking hours and didn't provide toilet paper or towels, despite being an Aparthotel. The basic service was lacking and everything felt improvised, as if profit mattered more than quality. They refused to take responsibility for any of our complaints. I'm sure they'll make excuses in response to this review. Beware, I do not recommend it!

We stayed in a family apartment, and everything was in its place and presented very well. The service was friendly, and it's also a good option if you want to get away from the city's noise. They can help arrange tickets for Machu Picchu and the city tour if you're visiting Cusco. We had an excellent visit.

The hotel is a little far from the center, though the prices are affordable. The "bread with avocado" at breakfast was a very small portion.

The rooms are lovely, attractive, well furnished, and very functional. Prices are reasonable, especially for a family trip. The service was excellent and made us feel like guests in our own home. Five stars, well deserved.
