Hostal Paucartambo Wasichay II

The owner quoted us one price, then raised it the day before we left. There was black mold in the shower and broken tiles. Breakfast was just a piece of ham cut into 4 pieces, 2 small pieces of bread, and coffee or tea. I really don't recommend it. Pay a little more for somewhere cleaner and nicer.

I paid 35 PEN for the laundry, though the weight didn't seem right. At the desk I was quoted 7 PEN per kilo, and the two bags were weighed in front of me at 5 kilos. I thought they should be no more than 3 kilos, but agreed to the charge. While I waited, I bought fruit at the central market. Its electronic scale showed 1.1 kilos. When I picked up the laundry, I asked them to weigh the fruit bag because I thought their scale was inaccurate. It came up as 2 kilos. The man there said they used different scales, and I still paid the full 35 PEN. I wouldn't use their laundry service.

The room was colorful and nicely decorated, but it was freezing, there was no hot water, and the window wouldn't close. The staff weren't very helpful. I was on the ground floor, where people shouted until the early hours, which wasn't great since I had a trip to rainbow mountain the next morning. I also booked a taxi through them to the bus station. It was supposed to be metered, but I was charged more.

We booked a room for 5 nights as a couple. On our last night, the host decided we had to leave because someone had booked the same room on booking, even though we were already staying there. Completely unprofessional!
