Novotel Cusco

We came to Novotel Cusco from Ollantaytambo before our flight to Lima the next day. The restaurant meal in the patio was delicious, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. It was a perfect base for a little exploring around central Cusco, and a driver picked us up at 5 a.m. for the airport. I’d recommend Novotel if you’re flying out.

We got in late after our Machu Picchu excursion and only had a few hours before taking a short ride to the airport. The room was comfortable, the shower was great, and the covered courtyard building has lovely colonial styling.

The hotel is lovely and in a great location, but we barely slept because of noise from the road and lobby. The front desk had no earplugs. They offered to move us, but it was already late, we were fully unpacked and dealing with altitude sickness, and we were only there for one night. The noise really made it hard to sleep.

Miguel, who helped with our luggage and oxygen, was a real asset, and the staff were courteous and professional. Their kindness made up for the problems. The beds weren’t very comfortable and came with just two small, thin pillows. The shower drain was clogged, and there were no bathroom hooks for towels or a robe. We stayed only two nights, so it wasn’t a big deal.
