Tierra Viva Cusco Centro

I first stayed at Tierra Viva 14 years ago on my first trip to Peru, and it was my first choice when I returned this year. I don’t regret that at all and would choose it again in a heartbeat if I came back. The room was clean and well located, breakfast was very good quality, and the staff were always pleasant and ready to help. I left for the Inca Trail for 4 days between my two stays, and they kept my luggage safe at the hotel. When I returned, it was waiting in my room. Everything was top notch.

Everything else about this hotel was fantastic, from the excellent food to the warm, attentive service. But if you’re in room 210, the kitchen is directly below you, and morning prep is loud enough to make it feel like you’re right in the kitchen. No alarm clock needed, you’ll wake up early. If you’re not an early riser, maybe ask for a room farther from the kitchen.

The rooms are spacious, and the decor is lovely, with a parador feel. The beds are comfortable and the shower is good, with toiletries provided. The location is central. One thing to know if you’re sharing, the basins are outside the bathroom, which makes for an interesting setup.

The location worked really well, and the staff were happy to suggest places to eat. They were lovely, spoke excellent English, and quickly helped with bags and questions. Our room was clean and fresh, with towels, shampoo, and conditioner. Great water pressure too, whether starting the day or rinsing off after the heat outside. The rooms at the front get constant traffic noise, so I’d avoid those unless you need to be up early anyway. 😂 I’d definitely recommend staying here, especially for the staff and the lovely setting.
