Hostal El Parque

The shower only gave us cold water, and the whole experience felt far from normal. When we came back from a walk, the receptionist got angry because I hadn’t left him the key. You have to ring once on your return, not twice, even if it takes him a while to answer, or he gets annoyed. Staff shouldn’t take a bad day out on guests. We aren’t responsible for their problems, and they should be giving a positive impression. I’ve traveled around Peru and never had anything like this happen. I can’t recommend this hostel.

We called the day before and were told the place was full, but when I called ahead later, they accepted my reservation. When I arrived, though, they said everything was full. Since time was tight, I had to take an ugly room by the door. They charged me as if I could stay until noon, yet asked me to leave at 8 a.m. I’d checked in at 7 p.m. Terrible.

The bathrooms need more attention, especially the showers, which should work properly. Otherwise everything was fine. It’s a little way from the center, but that’s normal.

I did like it in the end, but the first day was really bad. After a lot of complaints, things got a little better on the second day.
