At $35 a night, Hospedaje Claudia gave us the basics we needed for one night in Huacachina: a clean room, private bathroom, and bed. It’s a simple motel, so don’t expect extra comfort or amenities. The place was comfortable enough, but there was one awkward detail. The hotel turns off all its lights after a certain hour, and when we left at 6 a.m. we had to carry our luggage down the stairs and through the lobby in total darkness.

The room at Hospedaje Claudia was spacious and comfortable, and the staff made me feel welcome and at home. They also arranged sandboarding for me at a great price. The service was excellent, and I had a wonderful stay. Highly recommend!

The hotel itself was okay, and I liked the breakfast. But the taxi they recommended from Nazca ended up costing more after the price was raised at the last moment. They’d also said they could pick us up from Ica, then later refused, explaining they only pick up at Ica bus station if you have a bus ticket.

It’s fine for a night if you’re paying for the basics. The rooms weren’t very clean, though not filthy, and mosquitoes were around, so bring repellent. They shut off the water overnight and turn it back on around 7am. I think that’s common across Huacachina.

The room could use a bit of updating, but the bed and shower were great, and it suited us perfectly for one night. Breakfast was fresh, homemade, and very good. I loved the house dog, too. There’s a private parking lot, and it’s close to everything you’d want to walk to. Definitely recommend!
