Hotel Santa Cruz

We started and ended our G Adventures tour here, and the location wasn’t great for getting to the old town. On both stays, staff cleaned outside the rooms very early, talking loudly on two-way radios. I was woken every morning between 5am and 6am. The hotel is good value, but the service and staff let it down. The first room was dreadful. Hot water only worked sometimes, and there was a really bad smell. We tried breakfast once and didn’t bother again; it wasn’t worth getting out of bed for. The staff were very unfriendly. The part that upset me most happened at our second check-in. While checking us into a double room, staff seemed to think it was funny that two men would share a bed. They spoke in their own language and laughed. It felt unprofessional and homophobic. If you don’t want the pink pound or pink euro, G Adventures should know. G Adventures should take the negative feedback seriously and change hotels.

The front desk guy wasn't welcoming, and the elevator felt old. In the room, the air conditioner, TV, and Wi-Fi didn't work, and there wasn't a fridge either. I never expected a place like this next to a school like San Silvestre in Miraflores. Such a disappointing stay. A hostel is better.

I wanted to get a good night's sleep before the Cusco part of my Intrepid trip, but the room was old, dusty, and poorly maintained. The AC didn’t work, so I had to leave the window open, and the surrounding noise kept me awake. You’d be better off in a hostel. I don’t recommend staying here.

The hotel needs an upgrade and a serious deep clean of its facilities. I stayed two nights on the 28th August before my G Adventures tour. The room was comfortable enough, with three beds for two people, but the bed covers were light and there was no shower gel or shower cap. I also left an item behind and tried emailing and messaging them through the hotel website, but nobody replied. That was disappointing.
