Hostal La Joya

The service was generally good, and arriving at the hotel felt pleasant. Still, for our triple room they gave us only two towels, saying that was their usual limit per room. Wi-Fi didn't reach us either. The network showed as unavailable when we tried to connect, and the TV showed the same message. We tried several times to fix it, but couldn't. Hot water worked on the first day, then stopped for the rest of our stay. I told reception about all of this. They got the hot water going on our last day, but it took ages, with the heater being switched off and on repeatedly. I think these problems need more attention.

The location is in a strategic part of the city, but my stay during Candelaria was poor. Everything else was booked, so this was my last choice. The young woman at reception knew how to deal with guests, unlike the two male receptionists, whose service left a lot to be desired. The rooms were terrible: the comforters were dirty, the blankets badly worn, and we slept uncomfortably. I woke up with three spider bites on my arm. In the bathroom, the cleaning seemed superficial, with ingrained dirt in the corners and shower. I got the impression they hadn't disinfected the toilet or sink. The water kept cutting out, and it was a hassle to go downstairs to tell the young man. At least the double room had a decent TV, but the family room had barely a 10-inch one. The receptionists should be more attentive, friendly, and tolerant, and they need to pay closer attention to cleaning the rooms and bathrooms.

A lovely place to unwind after a long trip. The customer service was excellent, and it's the best hostel. Highly recommend! 😉😉
