That morning, both the water and electricity went out, which wasn’t their fault, but it threw off our whole next day. When we raised the other problems, they offered just 10 soles back, about $3. We said no, keep it. We felt a refund of at least 60 soles was fair, but at 7:30am the woman said the owner was asleep and couldn’t be disturbed. Really bad business practice. The room had no hot water, no key, a broken toilet, and only two tiny pillows until we asked for more. We paid 140 soles for one night in the middle of nowhere in Peru, which felt ridiculous. I’d avoid this place, and the whole town. It’s dirty and poorly maintained, apart from the main square, which is alright.

We spent one night here in our camper and would recommend it to overlanders. It’s clean, quiet, and feels safe when there isn’t an event going on. Most weekdays, I’d guess, are like that. Weekends are used for events.

We were there for about nine days in January, during a trip to Macchupicchu, Ollataytambo, and Puno. The rooms are modern, and the atmosphere around the hotel is peaceful and lovely. Clark, Lilly, and the rest of the staff were professional, courteous, respectful, and very attentive. I asked them several times for advice about the area and places to visit. Breakfast was very good each morning, and the dinners were excellent. I’d highly recommend it if you want a quaint, family-oriented place with attentive service.
