Sol y Luna - Relais & Chateaux

We used the hotel as a base for archeological visits and spent two glorious nights there with my family. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the staff were terrifically accommodating, and we had a couple of lovely meals at the restaurant.

The setting at Sol y Luna is incredible, and it’s quiet and well placed for exploring many parts of the Sacred Valley. The spacious, comfortable rooms and delicious food made our stay feel magical. Meal service was impeccable, and everyone on staff was attentive and made sure we had what we needed. The front desk team were helpful too, even with all my questions. After we left our headphones in the room, they contacted our travel company and made sure they got back to us. We had wonderful interactions with the whole team, and the service felt beyond first class.

The property is good, but be careful about the food. We got food poisoning, which seems to be a common problem here, and it ruined our trip, including our plans for macchu picchu. This is the first Relais Chateaux property where we’ve had this experience, so I’d be cautious about their recommendations in the future. The next day, the staff didn’t seem to care. They acted as if refunding dinner was all they needed to do. I wish we’d checked reviews first, since TripAdvisor, Reddit, and Google all have more reports of this. It isn’t worth the risk.

After long hiking days, it was lovely to return somewhere relaxing. The pool area, attentive service, and great ambience were what we liked most about this hotel, our base for three days in the Sacred Valley. We’ve stayed at other luxury places in the area, but preferred this one. I’d recommend upgrading to a higher room category, it’s significantly better.
