Tahiti Airport Motel

We were glad to get a shower before our eight-hour flight back to the US. Just be ready for the walk: there’s no airport shuttle, and the hotel can’t be reached directly up the hill from the north because a gate is welded shut. You have to go around and approach from the south. I found that out the hard way. We paid $20 for a taxi back to the airport, and walking there had me soaked. At least it helped work off the extra food, lol.

We booked this because it was close to the airport, but arriving at dawn turned into a miserable walk. The road was dark and unfamiliar, with barking dogs, no clear signs, and holes and potholes everywhere. The hotel can only be reached from the back, so we had to carry our suitcase up the mountain for more than 20 minutes. One wheel broke, and we got lost twice because there was no lighting. It’s outrageous that nobody met guests with a car below, when the drive would have taken only three minutes. There are no signs showing where to go. Don’t book here, take a taxi at dawn to a normal hotel. I’ll never recommend this place to anyone again.

The listing on hotels.com is misleading about the airport being a three-minute walk away. Maybe Superman could manage it with luggage on their back and fly there, but that’s impossible for the rest of us. We called to ask how to walk to the hotel, and the front desk told us to take a taxi. That cost $25 for the three-minute ride to the hotel, then $35 to get back to the airport. Save your money and find somewhere with an airport shuttle.

It’s the closest hotel or motel to the airport. Getting there means walking uphill for 10-15 minutes, but coming back down is really easy 😁
