RedDoorz Near Lapasan Plaza Cagayan de Oro

I’ve stayed in similar-priced inns around Metro Manila, and this RedDoorz in Lasapan was my worst experience. We waited a long time for the front desk, and the staff member who greeted us was busy playing Mobile Legends and wasn’t friendly. There was no security guard either. Getting our suitcases upstairs was a struggle because the stairs were so narrow. The room had cobwebs, a nonworking TV, and sheets that looked unwashed, like the previous guest had used them. The bathroom had no tissue, we weren’t given towels, and the blanket barely covered one person though we booked for two. Agoda listed free bottled water, but there wasn’t any. Not worth the money.

The best part of this Red Doors hotel is the staff. The two front desk workers and the maintenance guy were all fantastic. When I mentioned a bulb had gone out by my door, it was fixed the next day. If I needed decent food, adaptors, or a taxi, Abedin and Naj were happy to point me in the right direction, and sometimes walked me to a store when they weren’t busy. It’s a little out of the way and definitely not a luxury hotel, but for the price and the kind people working there, it can be worth a visit if you have some patience. The room was decent, though the AC could probably use free-on and the walls need a little TLC. I think they maintain the rooms about as well as they can with the staff and budget available. A taxi driver who knows the area should find it; someone unfamiliar with the area might have trouble, though that's no fault of the hotel.

The place feels old and poorly maintained. After a long day, I wanted a shower, but it didn’t work. There was dust, noise outside, and the window wouldn’t close. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The rooms are cool and the place is clean, and the staff were accommodating. It’s a decent spot for a short stay, though the service was good overall. The neighborhood is noisy and it’s not very accessible, so it’s not suited to studying or having quiet time. The shower is damaged and the sink doesn’t work. I also didn’t feel fully safe with the main door lock, which should be changed for guests’ peace of mind. It’s quite expensive, and I’d put the safety at only 50%.
