Yello! Hotel

We had a wonderful three-night stay at Yello, especially during the busy Sinulog festival. Getting around was easy by scooter, taxi, jeepney, or bus, and the location made everywhere accessible. Our room was clean and comfortable. Jeff and the rest of the staff were welcoming and went out of their way to help with questions and concerns. Breakfast was a buffet with a nice mix of Filipino and continental food, and it was fresh and regularly replenished. That's rare for a city hotel at this price. Thanks to everyone for being so attentive. I'd definitely recommend it and stay again.

The restaurant is nice, and the optional breakfast buffet is worth trying. The hotel itself is large, clean, and well maintained, with comfortable rooms. Staff were friendly and always ready to help. A great stay at YELLO HOTEL in Cebu, highly recommended if you're visiting.

Even though it's close to the city center, the hotel is still quiet. I loved everything here, from the tasty dining options to the cozy rooms and stunning views. It all went beyond what I expected.

The staff were fantastic, kind, patient, and professional. They were fine with me bringing my guitar and bike, and the guard liked my bike. Nobody complained when I played and sang. I also read a review about being charged for toilet paper, but I asked for a roll each day and had no problem. The area around Lahug has a good community, though there's limited accommodation. Yello is good value for a night or two while passing through. With a few changes, like making a fridge available, it could be a home base for short stays. If you've got the budget, there's Marco Polo, which is superb. The Hiyatt is about half Marco Polo's price and, I think, about half the quality, though I haven't tried it yet. The rooms are small but nice and practical, with a small comfortable bed. They were clean and cleaned often. It was quiet and I slept well, and the AC worked well. But the place was nearly empty and they still wouldn't give me a single room. They said I had to pay for a double. When I asked again, the policy was the same, or I could check out at 10am, leave my things at the front desk until 3pm, and maybe a room would come up. They unplug the water coolers each night, so plug them back in if you want cold water at night or in the morning. There hasn't been a pool for two years, so the photos and statement on Google maps will mislead you. I reported that, and it reduces the value. Some rooms apparently have a minibar, meaning a fridge, but I don't know how you qualify for that upgrade. Since the AC turns off when you take the key card, milk would spoil in a day, so you can't stay here long. There is hanging space but no coat hangers, a cheap item that lasts and needs no maintenance. I bought some at the JY Mall supermarket, but then what do you do with them? I didn't try the food because reviews and friends who've lived in Lahug for 20 years warned me against it. They should fix that because the roof area is very nice. I guess the (part Chinese?) owners are very greedy for money and responsible for this policy. Don't pay by card: I was charged $25AUD in fees for two nights at $48AUD a night. Go to ATMs at JY Mall and use cash. It's run like somewhere to spend a night or two while passing through.
