Celtis Resort

The owner welcomed me right away, answered all my questions on agoda Chat, helped with my luggage, and checked in every day to ask how my day was and how I was doing. They're lovely people, and I really don't understand the negative reviews. The electricity is off from 8-10 in the morning, but that's across the whole Island of Malapascua, not because of the Resort. The shower worked, and the water was always hot when I needed it. I hope I can come back one day. Thank you so much!

The room was clean and the air conditioning worked great. The hosts were really friendly and chatty, and the Wi-Fi was better than at all the food places we went to in malapascua. I could play mobile legends and make video calls. You'll need to bring your own toiletries, though hand soap, toilet roll, and towels were provided. Chickens, dogs, and Gec-ko could be heard through the night, so it might bother light sleepers.

The location was decent and the rooms were acceptable, but the A/C was broken and the cleanliness was questionable. After a full day of travel, we felt pressured to pay extra because they wouldn't let us check in otherwise. We were told there was a complication with our booking and that we'd booked a private room for one guest, but staff couldn't show proof it was our mistake. The extra charge seemed unfair. The owner was arrogant and difficult when we raised the issue. The amount he quoted was much lower than what the very rude, patronising woman at reception had charged. When we asked her about the difference, she responded shockingly disrespectfully. Later we found that some belongings had been moved, and money we'd left in our “safe space” was missing. The whole stay was a terrible hospitality experience, with poor customer service, questionable charges, and concerns about missing belongings. I'd strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

The garden is nicely kept, and the caretakers are kind and helpful. It's a very nice property and good value, with a convenient location near the main food market and just a 5 minute walk to Evolution Dive Shop. The room can get hot and stuffy without AC because there's no cross breeze, though the fan helped. They have plenty of rooms with AC, so get one of those if you can. That's the only reason I didn't give five stars.
