Chaniva-Joy Island View Appartments

It's definitely the best place to stay on the island. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, it's completely quiet with birdsong around. There's a motorbike rental and a quiet, deserted beach in the north nearby. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly. If we come back to the island, we'll stay here again.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the price felt very fair for the service and location. The apartments are cozy and modern, with a lovely view across the island. It’s a little away from the island’s main area, though you can rent a motorcycle. A great pick if you want somewhere quiet on Malapascua Island.

The place itself was lovely and the service was great, but we regretted booking a fan room. We thought all the trees around it would keep things cool, but it was really hot, and even two fans didn’t help much. Maybe there wasn’t enough ventilation, or perhaps it was just the weather while we were there. We couldn’t leave the door or windows open because of mosquitoes. If you stay, I’d book an AC room.

It’s a quiet spot among the trees, though they block the view of the sea. The property is deep in the jungle, about a 40-minute walk from the main city, so we used moto taxis. Each trip cost 50 pesos. The bathroom looked new, with nice tiles and warm water, but there was no bidet. The kitchen was nice too, with pans, a cooker, refrigerator, kettle, and glasses. Everything else was very good, but the location is far from everything and the internet was very slow.
