Malagos Garden Resort

We stopped by yesterday for the day tour with lunch, and the place has improved since our last visit. The staff were good, especially the person who showed us around. He was so accommodating and gave excellent service. I was sad I didn't get his name. The food was good too. We tried the cold sikwate, chocolate cake, and other items, all really good. It seems suitable for families, friends, and business visits. We didn't check out staying overnight, but hope to try that next time.

The place itself is beautiful, especially if you enjoy nature, but I don't think staying here is worth it. The rooms are old, the food is expensive, and they charge a hefty 100 per item you bring in, so meals cost even more. The corkage charge feels incredible when their own food may not fill you up and is already expensive. Breakfast is included, but it's just a piece of bread, a slice of cheese, and two eggs. Hotels at the same rate offer a buffet breakfast. If this is the only hotel in town, you're stuck with it. For a one-night stay, I'd rather sleep in a room worth over Php700.

A distinctive spot for visitors to Davao City, with plenty of birds and koi fish to see. Families and friends can enjoy walking around, weekend buffet lunches, the Falconry show, and the Malagos chocolate museum.

The buffet was good, and even the quick Malagos visit felt worth the long trip from the city. We decided at the last minute to spend a day there before our flight to Manila, and I'm glad we did. The bird trainers were so good during the Malagos Bird Show, and it was great to see the birds had been rescued and were being cared for. When one bird came around for money, it didn't take the 500 I was holding, lol. The show opened wonderfully, and I didn't expect to see that cute line of chickens and ducks heading to their classroom. I'd recommend the place, and hope I can bring my family next time.
